FILM PROJECT

WISH ME A GOOD JOURNEY is a powerful feature film project based on the acclaimed and bestselling memoir by renowned journalist Gina Montaner, chronicling the final journey of her beloved father, Cuban-Spanish-American author, journalist, and political analyst Carlos Alberto Montaner.

The story is rooted in Montaner’s deeply personal request to his daughter: to help him secure the right to die in Spain, after a debilitating battle with Parkinson’s disease that affected his cognitive abilities.

What followed was a year-long journey of love, compassion, loss, and ultimately peace for father and daughter as they navigated Spain’s assisted-dying system for the terminally ill.

At its heart, this is a story of love — of a family’s courageous decision to stand by their patriarch in his quest for a dignified ending to a prolific life as one of the most influential intellectuals, columnists, and authors of Latin America, Spain, and the Hispanic community in the United States.

SCREENWRITER

Leila is a Cuban-American actress and award-winning screenwriter. She is managed by Liam Scholey and Julia Watkinson at Vision Entertainment. A graduate of Tulane University with a major in Film Production, Leila brings a fresh and distinct perspective to her work. She has written three feature film scripts currently in various stages of pre-production, as well as a comedy pilot, and has received high scores on The Black List, including industry referrals.
